How to Clean and Maintain Your Resilient Floor
What is a resilient floor?   As defined by the Resilient Floors Institute (RFCI): Resilient flooring is defined as "a non-woven flooring that is resilient to the touch and has the property of recovering from repeated compression."   Unlike cement-based surfaces such as polished concrete, terrazzo, dry-shake concrete floor, ceramic tile, and stone floors, it appears to be elastic, but it's nothing to do with  "bounce" actually. It is very popular in education, healthcare, logistics warehousing and transportation industries since it can prevent deep slippery injuries when people fall compared to hard floor surfaces.   From the material point of view, the elastic floor is divided into homogeneous structure and heterogeneous structures. Homogeneous means that the resilient floor is a single layer of material from top to bottom, such as rubber floor, VCT (Vinyl Ceramic Tile), Cork and heterogeneous refers to a flooring structure with layers (multi-layers), typically each layer of products has a separate chemical reaction, such as LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile with rich decorative patterns).   What types of resilient surfaces are there? For example: · PVC · Linoleum · Rubber floor · Vinyl floors such as VCT and LVT · Epoxy resin floor   What are the characteristics of resilient floors? Resilient floors such as PVC and epoxy resin floors have the characteristics of elasticity, safety, acid and alkali resistance, wear resistance, pressure resistance, impact resistance, mildew resistance, waterproof, dustproof, easy maintenance and cleaning, etc., so they are widely used in commercial scenarios Medical and health industries such as hospitals, nursing homes, educational institutions such as schools, property communities, transportation institutions such as airports, trains, and industrial scenes such as pharmaceutical factories, electronics factories, warehousing and logistics industries, etc.     What are common maintenance challenges and solutions for resilient floors?   The most popular resilient floor in Europe is PVC, Linoleum and Rubber floor but in North America, it should be VCT and LVT. Taking the PVC floor as an example, the main cleaning and maintenance challenges are:   1. The floor stripping works as usual rely too much on the floor stripper chemical agent, which is costly, has an terrible smell, is harmful to the human body, and requires high experience and skills of the operators. It relies too much on labor, and if the floor wax removal water is not completely removed then it will bring out the secondary damage, resulting in color spots and other problems. 2. The floor is severely worn due to the flow of people, there are many scratches on the ground, and the wax surface is seriously worn out. 3. The daily cleaning of the floor is difficult to continue, and there is a lack of scientific overall solutions and standards.     For the application of flo...

Welcome to our blog, where we dive into the world of concrete flooring. Often associated with industrial settings, concrete floors including polished concrete, terrazzo floors and dry-shake concrete floors have become increasingly popular in residential and commercial spaces due to their durability, aesthetic appeal, and easy maintenance. In this guide, we'll explore the materials used in concrete flooring, the different types available, their unique features, common cleaning and maintenance problems, and effective methods to keep your concrete floor looking its best.     What Is Concrete Flooring Concrete flooring refers to a solid, durable, and versatile flooring option made from a combination of cement, aggregates (such as sand or gravel), and water.    The Popular Types of Concrete Floor 1. Polished Concrete: Achieved by grinding and polishing the surface to create a glossy finish, polished concrete is highly durable and showcases the natural beauty of the concrete.  2. Terrazzo Floor: It’s a composite material and consists of different kinds of aggregates like chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable material, poured with a cementitious binder (for chemical binding), polymeric (for physical binding), or a combination of both.    Features of Concrete Flooring 1. Durability: Concrete floors can withstand heavy foot traffic, making them ideal for high-traffic areas such as retail stores, offices, and garages. 2. Versatility: Concrete can be customized with various colors, stains, textures, and patterns, allowing for endless design possibilities. 3. Low Maintenance: Concrete floors are relatively easy to maintain, requiring regular cleaning and occasional resealing to preserve their appearance and protect against stains.     The Common Floor Cleaning and Maintenance Problems 1. Stains and chemical liquid residues: Concrete floors are susceptible to stains from spills like oil, grease, or acidic substances. If left untreated, these stains can become stubborn and difficult to remove, for example, the oil residues, drinks residues and black tire marks. 2. Scratches and Scuffs: Heavy wheels or dragging sharp objects can leave scratches or scuffs on the concrete surface, affecting its aesthetic appeal.  Solution For these two cases, you better renovate and deep clean the floor.   If it’s a big area,  you can choose the powerful ride-on auto floor scrubber dryer machine like our T150 Pro, up to 85KG pressure on the disc brush, 650 RPM for the roller brush and 220 RPM for the disc brush, the deep cleaning job can be easily taken over. You can choose aggressive deep cleaning floor pads including diamond polishing pads or PBT roller brushes and floor cleaners to remove the stains. We recommend you to drive them slowly to deep clean the stained part.
